29 July 2006 Safe drivers could reap benefits
Safe drivers could save as much as £10,000 over the course of their driving life time according to new figures from motor insurance company Privilege.
Around 25 million drivers in Britain are viewed as "safe" as they have four or more years no claims bonus, Privilege reveals.
The company estimates that women could also make better savings on their car insurance than men, holding onto an extra £1,122 thanks to few claims.
Managing director of Privilege Insurance, Ian Parker, commented: "The research shows that safe drivers are saving thousands of pounds by staying accident free, as well as making the roads a safer place for us all.
"The lifetime saving that safe drivers can make is further incentive for all drivers to take care when behind the wheel."
Other ways in which drivers can keep their car insurance premiums down include, keeping their cars in a garage or parked on a secure driveway, protecting their no claims discount and ensuring their car is secure.
Privilege car insurance benefits include no claims discounts of up to 65 per cent, approved repairs and emergency roadside assistance.
