24 October 2006  Poll reveals sweetest drives
Extra Strong Mints and Polo mints have topped a poll from a car insurance provider of the sweets that Britons prefer on lengthy car journeys.

The survey, by Post Office Car Insurance, found that while men's top choice was Extra Strong Mints and women opted for Polo mints, those aged under 35 preferred Haribo's sweets.

Other confectionaries that made the list included wine gums, fruit pastilles and Murray Mints.

Phil Ashkuri, head of Post Office Car Insurance, said: "Munching on sweets in the car - whether you're moving or not - is a national pastime."

He reminded motorists to get their passengers to open their sweets for them, to make sure that they can keep their eyes on the road.

Earlier this month, Zurich reminded new parents to ensure that they have the appropriate level of car insurance and to check that their vehicles adhere to recent child-seat legislation.
