14 July 2006  Multiple car owners get car insurance bonus
Direct Line is offering its customers a no claim discount (NCD) car insurance bonus for multiple vehicles with policies taken out with the company.

The car insurance provider comments that the new policy will let an NCD to be passed over from one vehicle to another and is available to all motorists for up to nine cars.

Direct Line states it is the only company to provide 'matched' NCD, as the product is called and is aimed at the 3.7 million drivers who currently own more than one car in the UK.

Emma Holyer, spokesperson for Direct Line, commented: "Many motorists now own two cars and it doesn't seem fair that although they have proved they are a safe driver they are unable to claim NCD on more than one car.

"Direct Line believes that if you have evidence that shows you are a safe driver you should be able to benefit from a discount on all your insurance, not just one policy."

The news follows recent research which stated that British motorists are prepared to do more to limit damage caused to the environment.

A study from Cooperative Insurance found that 82 per cent of consumers would prefer to drive an environmentally friendly than one producing emissions that are potentially harmful.
