31 August 2006 Drivers offered car insurance basics online
An insurance company has launched a new basic internet-only car insurance product, promising lower prices and greater simplicity.
Simple Cover, a product launched by Norwich Union, promises fully comprehensive car insurance without extras that can remain unused.
The product is available exclusively online by annual payment, with savings from lower overheads passed on to the consumer.
Mark Godfrey, head of Norwich Union direct motor marketing, said: "Easy and straightforward, Simple Cover is the perfect solution for time-poor, internet savvy motorists on the look-out for quality insurance at cheaper prices."
Simple Cover offers a 24-hour claims team, no claims discount and local call rate, but does not include personal accident cover, medical expenses, or cover for driving other vehicles.
The minimum legal requirement for car insurance covers only claims by third-parties, with any fully comprehensive car insurance also covering accidental damage to one's own vehicle.
Drivers wanting additional cover from Simple Cover car insurance can purchase a range of options separately, including cover for breakdowns, legal services, a courtesy car, foreign use and physiotherapy cover.
