06 December 2006  Bradford tops car accident list
Recently published statistics listing the top ten most dangerous cities and towns for accidents in the UK puts Bradford at the head of the list, a car insurance provider reports.

Endsleigh Insurance notes that Bradford, Ilford and Inner London are the most dangerous places for car accidents, while Belfast, Swansea and Cambridge are the safest.

Another factor that could affect car insurance premiums which was investigated was the incidence of car theft base on three years of claims, with Hull, Bradford and Leeds being deemed the riskiest and Norwich, Solihull and Swindon being the safest.

Tim Larden, a spokesperson for Endsleigh, said: "There are a large number of positive initiatives that local councils and police services are implementing to address road safety.

Mr Larden noted congestion charging, speed cameras, drink-driving campaigns as traffic calming measures introduced that could reduce the numbers of accidents.

Last month, car insurance provider Prudential warned drivers that forthcoming cold weather could make driving conditions hazardous.
